FarOut

The second annual installment of Far Out Fest is so packed with amazing talent, we had to break it down into a full preview just to do the lineup justice. After the independent film festival portion of the event at Third Man Records last night, get ready to enjoy over a dozen mostly local bands, gracing the stages at Mercy Lounge and The High Watt tonight, Friday, May 11, and tomorrow night, Saturday, May 12. Billed as a psychedelic music and arts festival, Far Out is boasting some killer national talent on the music end, including Electric Citizen, Al Lover, Dead Feathers, Nest Egg, A Drug Called Tradition, and Beginner’s Mynd, as well as some area favorites in the underground Tennessee psych scene like The Holifields, Ttoals, Fragment of God, The Chewers, Black Moon Mother, The Spiderberries, and J. Carter. There will be art installations by Sophia Gordon, Shahnaz Lighari, Jake Johnston, and floral artist Meadow Speak, as well as live visuals from Labrys Light Show, Window Light, and the Southern Demon Herd. On Saturday, they are also featuring a Far Out Market from 5 p.m. to midnight, with vendors selling original artwork, records, and artisanal goods. Vendors include Draconis Arcanum, Holly & the Hare, Utopian Slur, Grendel’s Choice, Television Lights, Vapexhale, and Jeff Crawford

Single night passes for Friday or Saturday are available for $15 and $20 respectively, or you can just drop $35 up front for a full weekend pass that gets you access to everything! On both nights, the performances will be staggered between the two stages, with ticket holders being able to wander from one venue to the other. Below you can see who is playing when and where, and if you click on after the jump you can get a taste of some of the tunes you’ll be hearing. Don’t pass on what many are calling the hottest new annual throwdown in all of Music City; hope to see you there!
