Sleigh Bells to Play The Basement East Feb. 1 with Sunflower Bean

It’s been nearly a decade since the formation of Brooklyn noise pop duo Sleigh Bells, and more than seven years since they catapulted onto the scene with their explosive, instant-classic debut, Treats. In the time since, the “hipster explosion” and flourishing blogosphere of indie rock that helped making them famous has certainly waned, and many of their peers fallen by the wayside, but the dynamic duo, made up of Alexis Krauss and Derek E. Miller, have managed to endure, releasing three more LPs, most recently last fall’s Jessica Rabbit, and exploring new ways to reinvent their driving, hook-laden, riffed out, noisey, and anthemic indie pop sound.

The band have just announced a surprise new mini album, Kid Kruschev, due out Nov. 10 through their own label Torn Clean, and with it, a stunningly subdued new single, “And Saints,” which eschews the bombastic percussion and bold guitar riffs of the bulk of their material in favor of layered, synthy, introspection. Whether the rest of the album will follow suit remains to be seen (it was apparently recorded in Krauss’ new secluded home outside of the city), while we wait to find out, the group have also unveiled a new run of tour dates for 2018, returning them to Nashville for the first time in more than four years for a Feb. 1 performance at The Basement East with Sunflower Bean. That’s right- Sleigh Bells on the east side!
