Partially Nashville based alt/indie/electro rock icons MUTEMATH are gearing up to release their fifth album, Play Dead, in just a few days- Sept. 8. As we told you awhile back, the group are set to headline The Ryman Auditorium– shockingly, their first time at the Mother Church after previously hitting spots like War Memorial Auditorium, Ascend Amphitheater, Municipal Auditorium, and The Basement East- on Oct. 3, marking one of our most-anticipated outings of the fall.
Since details of the album and show first broke, there’s been some unfortunate news from the group’s camp. Drummer and founding member Darren King opted to depart last month on amicable terms, and, while that’s undoubtedly a massive bummer to longtime fans, we’re pleased to see MUTEMATH’s commitment to following through with their immediate plans, recruiting friend David Hutchison to fill King’s hefty shoes.
Though we’ll soon be able to hear all of Play Dead in full, the band have amped up the excitement with one last, surprise single, “Break the Fever,” before it drops. Keeping our excitement high ahead what sounds like an adventurous forthcoming release, you can hear the new jam below, then head here to grab tickets to The Ryman while they last!
