Beach Slang to Play The Basement East Oct. 31

BeachSlang-620

Led by frontman James Alex, Philadelphia’s Beach Slang co-opt elements of punk, heartland, and indie rock, playing with an energetic earnestness that feels like a love letter to classic punk without entering the territory for full-blown nostalgia; their sound is both fresh and familiar, which has helped them rack up endless critical praise from so many tastemaking media outlets and punk fans. Formed in 2013, the group made an amazing amount of early headway with only a few songs to their name, Alex’s style compared to the great Paul Westerberg, and, fueled by enough initial positive response, toured extensively long before releasing an album. In the short few years since, they’ve managed to produce not one, but two incredible full-lengths, 2015’s The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us, and last year’s A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings, and with their genre-bending sensibilities have straddled touring with more pop punk and emo geared contemporaries, as well as underground and old school artists and more conventional punk acts.

After a bit of a lineup change (their last Nashville outing with Bleached saw James play solo and acoustic, following a last minute band shakeup), and continuing a seemingly endless string of tours, the band have expanded their already-packed schedule to include a ton of new fall dates, including an Oct. 31 headlining return to Nashville, for a Halloween performance at The Basement East with equally exciting support from Dave Hause & The Mermaid and Pet Symmetry. We’ll certainly have more as the one approaches, but for now check out a full list of Beach Slang dates below, and grab tickets to their Basement East debut beginning Friday, July 28 at 11 a.m. CDT right here!
