WhiteReaper-620

One of our favorite rising acts (and the headliners of, without a doubt, the craziest Acme show we’ve ever hosted), Louisville’s White Reaper are out in support of their awesome, evolutionary new album, The World’s Best American Band, which will bring them back to Nashville tonight, May 12 for their largest local show to date, at The Basement East! With support from likeminded LA punks No Parents and local Diarrhea Planet side project Duck, this is definitely one of the coolest spring shows for fans of huge, energetic, garage-primed punk, and tickets are still available right here. Read on for more about the lineup!

WHITE REAPER

Still legends around these parts for their epic (and infamous) rooftop performance at our 2015 Acme Feed & Seed showcase, Louisville garage punks White Reaper broke out in a big way with their sophomore full-length, White Reaper Does It Again, that same year, and have been rising in presence ever since. With their fuzzy, energetic, genre-straddling sound, the band teeter between punk rock bite and indie rock swagger, and with their latest, the recently-released The World’s Best American Band, White Reaper reach for bigger, bolder, more anthemic and arena-primed heights. Before a busy summer of festival dates (including nearby Bonnaroo), the band are out on a club run, and though they’ve played Nashville a few times since our Acme show, this Basement East stop will be their largest music city headliner to date; still, it’s a perfect sized room to experience their road-worn, self-assured, ripping live show in person, and if you haven’t yet jumped on the bandwagon or you’re do for another fix, this is going to be one of the spring’s coolest shows.

NO PARENTS

Springing out of the DIY Los Angeles punk scene, No Parents are named after chant that used to occur at a friend’s frequent party house when, you guessed it, his parents weren’t around. After spending years honing their skills in other bands, the members of No Parents met by happenstance, and quickly became one of the hardest working bands in the LA punk/garage rock scene after forming in 2013, playing countless shows and really living the lifestyle, crashing in art galleries and DIY show spaces and facilitating the scene at the ground level. Known for their wild, rowdy performance style, No Parents dropped a proper full-length debut, May the Thirst Be With You, in 2015 on Burger Records, and seem to be churning out new tracks at a pretty regular clip. They have a lot in common with White Reaper, so fans of either band are definitely in for a solid show.

DUCK

We  can find little to no information on Duck, other than the project was started by members of Diarrhea Planet, and that the lineup changes constantly. With the DP boys involved though, we’re sure whatever this band is will be awesome, and the mystery seems like an even more compelling reason to show up early, or risk missing out!

White Reaper, No Parents, and Duck will perform tonight, May 12 at The Basement East. The show is 18+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available to purchase for $10.
