As regular readers know, we can’t get enough of local bluesy, southern, retro rock powerhouse Blackfoot Gypsies. We’ve been covering the group for a long time, and seeing their steady rise in notoriety has been a thrill to witness. With this in mind, we absolutely had to mention that the sure-to-be-epic album release party for their brand spankin’ new LP, To the Top, tonight, April 14 at Little Harpeth Brewing. Doors to the 21+ affair open at 8 p.m., and music starts at 9 p.m. sharp, so if you’re planning on going, don’t blow it by being late; this will also be a pretty packed house.
We also had a chance to chat by e-mail with BFG drummer Zach Murphy, who gave us the scoop on To the Top: “The new record was recorded at Electric Kite Studios in Madison, TN,” he said. “[We] used Stager Microphones. It was a great time. Had some good friends come sit in on the sessions as well. [Friends] like Margo Price, Spencer Cullum Jr., Micah Hulsher, Shannon Pollard, Taylor Powell, Paul Thacker, Diego Vasquez.”
Murphy also mentioned that the band had wrapped an amazing tour of Europe, since last we spoke, and that they would definitely be going back, as well touring extensively around the U.S. the rest of this year to promote the new release. If you haven’t yet seen what all the hype is about in person, or you have and you know why this show is one not to miss, make a point to start your weekend by supporting some local rockers on their way… well, to the top!
Blackfoot Gypsies will celebrate their new record tonight, April 14 at Little Harpeth Brewing. The 21+ show begins at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.), and admission is $10-15.
