Since a couple years before our site even existed, the fine folks at Nashville’s Dead have been hosting annual rock fest Freakin’ Weekend, which, over seven fantastic years has grown from a modest DIY hang to a formidable weekend event, spread across multiple days and venues, and showcasing some of the best of local and national punk, garage, indie, hardcore, and everything in between.
Usually set for early March, it seemed like we were getting down to the wire about details for this year’s event, but Freakin’ Weekend just came through, with news that it’ll return March 9-11, again at Exit/In, The End, Third Man, and Fort Houston, for an eighth year. However, this year’s announcement came with a sad caveat: Freakin’ Weekend VIII will mark the festival’s year.
Have no fear though, FW intends to go out in style, recruiting Diarrhea Planet, Jacuzzi Boys, Omni, Hoops, Pujol, Daddy Issues, Golden Pelicans, Ranch Ghost, and Music Band, with more artist announcements to follow when the full schedule arrives. We’ll update with ticket links and more details soon, but, needless to say, you won’t want to miss one last chance to celebrate the Freakin’ Weekend.
