As we announced last week, beloved Nashville indie popsters Vinyl Thief are planning to disband following what will now serve as their farewell show this Friday, Aug. 26 at Mercy Lounge with JMR and Kaptan (buy or win tickets). Before the boys hang it up, however, they’re leaving one last parting gift, a video for single “Bad Decisions,” which they’ve given us the honor of exclusively premiering.
Originally unveiled in late 2015, “Bad Decisions” appears on the group’s Touch EP, released last month, which will serve as a fitting final record, as it explores broader sonic textures, layered production, and minimalism, oozing with confidence and realized potential as a summation of the band’s impressive run.
Fun and light-hearted, perfectly matching the vibe of the single, and produced by filmmaker Ian Maravalli, “Bad Decisions” chronicles a man (Andrew Thetford) seeking to escape the mundane nature of late night laundry, who subsequently takes a mystery pill to spice up his night, to the disapproval of his dog (played by VT vocalist Grayson Proctor’s dog Theo).
