Wilco-620

On the brink of a huge North and South American tour (unfortunately, no Nashville dates), Wilco are gearing up to release their 10th studio album, titled Schmilco, on Sept. 9, and, in awesomely analog manner, they will offer fans a chance to get their first listen at independent record stores across the country on Sept. 6.  In Nashville, we’ll have listening parties at The Groove at 5:30 p.m. and Grimey’s at 6 p.m.  If you are outside of Nashville, you can look up participating record stores at Wilco’s website.  Each listening party, dubbed “I Heard Schmilco,” will include a full vinyl stream of the record, along with various giveaways and the chance to purchase the vinyl copy early for those in attendance.

The new record features a more stripped down quality that, unlike Wilco’s recent records, sees Tweedy trading in the wild guitars and intricate arrangements for a more intimate experience.  If you pre-order Schmilco, you can get an instant download of the first two singles “Locator” and “If I Ever Was A Child,” but, if you can’t even wait long enough for two songs to download, you can sneak a listen via Spotify below.
