Macy Gray-620-2015

Multitalented singer-songwriter Macy Gray has been supplying her own unique mix of R&B, jazz, soul and rock since she topped the charts with her infectious single “I Try” back in 2000. Since then, she’s released six studio albums and won the hearts of music lovers across the globe. She’s returning to City Winery on July 16 for a special intimate concert with support from talented local Sasha Aaron, and a few tickets are still available here. If you’re running low on cash, you’ll be happy to know that we’re giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky reader. Enter for your chance to win and find out more about the lineup below!

MACY GRAY

Since she first burst onto the scene, Macy Gray has never been afraid to sound different. Although many compare her voice to that of a raspier Billie Holiday, it’s truly hard to compare her sound to anyone else. Although many know her for her massive hit “I Try,” Gray has created an impressive catalog of music that meshes elements of jazz, rock, pop, classical and R&B in a way that stops you dead in your tracks. Over the past fourteen years, she’s sold over 25 million records worldwide, even when consistently pushing against the mainstream ideal of what’s popular. Because of that confidence and unwavering need to stay true to herself, she’s created a loyal global following that just keeps on growing. Her latest release was 2014’s The Way, but this year she appeared on “Leave Me Lonely,” a track featured on Ariana Grande’s latest album Dangerous Woman. If you haven’t gotten to experience Gray’s sultry and hypnotizing voice in person, make sure you’re in attendance during her stop at City Winery.

SASHA AARON

Nashville based singer-songwriter Sasha Aaron has spent the past few years playing dozens of local shows, and even won the opportunity to sing alongside Clint Black on national television. The talented Florida native cites Linda Ronstadt, The Eagles, Sheryl Crow, Trisha Yearwood and Miranda Lambert as her biggest influences, which is apparent with one listen to her strong-willed and well-crafted tracks.
