We’ve already told you blues rock ’n’ roll duo Black Pistol Fire will be playing Nashville’s Mercy Lounge on July 14, but we were happy to see local, like minded brethren Chrome Pony added to the bill in the warm up spot. Tickets for this badass show are currently available for just $13 in advance or $15 day of, but if you’re feeling lucky, click on, because we are giving a pair away for free. While you’re here, learn more about both bands, and if you don’t win the contest make sure you snag tickets, because we have a feeling this one will start to fill up as we get closer to show time.

BLACK PISTOL FIRE

Splitting time between Austin, TX, and their native lands near Toronto, Canada, Black Pistol Fire are a high octane rock ’n’ roll duo that bring 110% every time they perform. They first caught our ears at Bonnaroo 2014, where they melted skulls with their smoke soaked blues riffs and frenetic Jon Bonham inspired drumming. With just two members–Kevin McKeown on guitar/lead vocals and Eric Owen on drums–it’s impossible not to be impressed with the level of sound produced live, which brings to mind the earlier days of the Black Keys, mixed with Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, and even a little Nirvana grunge. With the recent release of their latest record, Don’t Wake the Riot, it’s obvious that BPF are just starting to get things cookin’, so be there when they set the stage ablaze at Mercy with their blistering hot blues rock anthems.

CHROME PONY

A local band we are very familiar with, Chrome Pony touches on elements of psychedelic, punk, garage, and plain old kick ass rock and roll; blending it all together to create an original sound all their own. Founded by Indiana-bred brothers Tyler and Kyle Davis, the group is a staple in the growing Nashville indie rock scene, and it doesn’t appear they’re going anywhere anytime soon.  They caught a lot of international buzz after touring with Cage The Elephant, and they followed that up with their latest record, Past Lives, which dropped in February. Get a taste below and get to the venue on time to support local musicians.
