We told you all about Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes‘ release of their new EP, Bemidji, back in March. They follow that up with the release of a music video for the single “The Surface.” However, this isn’t your usual music video. It was shot and directed by a Brazilian filmmaking couple (Leo Longo and Diana Boccara), who are traveling the world shooting music videos for 80 different bands for their Around The World In 80 Music Videos project. Lead singer Daniel Ellsworth describes the experience as such, “A few months ago we got an email from [the] filmmakers telling us about their project… I dove in and started watching some of their work and my mind was blown. So many videos, all of them beautifully shot, all of them distinctly different. I started listening to bands from South Korea and Germany and Russia that I never would have heard before. I was so honored that they asked us to be involved.”
The video was shot in Nashville and features Robyn and Dan Burns of Nashville rock band Action!, as well as members of DE&TGLs. Head below to check out the hauntingly beautiful video describing the song’s message of slowly fading love, and then dive into the project’s YouTube page to see more of their work.
