Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, who, over the past several decades, has garnered acclaim as a solo performer, producer, composer, author, and filmmaker, is no stranger to Nashville, recording a trio of albums here in recent years, and leaning on a talented local crop of performers to back him live and in recording. Sure to be a unforgettable affair, tickets are still available right here while they last! Read on for details!
DAVE STEWART w/ CHAD CROMWELL, DAN DUGMORE, TOM BUKOVAC, MIKE ROJAS, DAVE LABRUYERE
Though undoubtedly known best for his role as one half of famed British new wave act Eurythmics, Dave Stewart (often billed David A. Stewart) has, over the last several decades, become one of the most prolific, accomplished, and diverse music-rooted entrepreneurs in recent memory. With over 100 million records sold and countless awards to his name, Stewart has written and produced for a diverse array of artists, including Bono, Bryan Ferry, Gwen Stefani, Tom Petty, Katy Perry, and Sinead O’Connor. On the business side, Dave founded his own label many years ago, and has authored multiple books, including his brand new memoir Sweet Dreams Are Made of This: A Life in Music. He’s branched out to film, working both behind and in front of the camera, and collaborated on creative and informative projects with fellow musicians, tech entrepreneurs, and the like. As a performer, Stewart has found success as a composer, but has also managed to stick closer to his roots, releasing a string of solo efforts since the ’80s, and even joining close friend Mick Jagger for supergroup SuperHeavy in 2011. Across 2011, 2012, and 2013, the prolific performer came to Nashville for inspiration, tapping a diverse array of producers, writers, and performers (among them, Chad Cromwell, Dan Dugmore, Tom Bukovac, Mike Rojas, and Dave Labruyere, who will join him at The BEast), to craft a trilogy of fantastic albums, recored at Blackbird Studio. Though it’s his book that seems to have brought Stewart back to town, we’re lucky that he’s squeezing in a show, backed by a fantastic group of players no less, in a space so initiate. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see a true living legend!
JON STEVENS
Like Stewart, New Zealand-born, Australian based singer Jon Stevens has had a long, varied, and successful solo career. Jon first rose to prominence with his band Noiseworks in the ’80s, before finding fame with a string of solo releases in the ’90s and ’00s, during which time he also managed to squeeze in briefly fronting INXS, and forming a new project called The Dead Daisies. Stevens is touring largely in Australia this spring, but make the trek to Nashville to support Dave Stewart not only at this show, but also at an intimate book event last week.
Dave Stewart, Chad Cromwell, Dan Dugmore, Tom Bukovac, Mike Rojas, Dave Labruyere, and Jon Stevens will perform tonight, March 2 at The Basement East. The show is 21+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7:30 p.m.), and tickets are available for $15.
