Breakout local county artist Sturgill Simpson, whose beloved 2014 sophomore effort Metamodern Sounds in Country Music and all of its critical buzz helped fuel his gigantic 2015, including a recent three-night sold out trek at The Ryman, has been insanely busy for at least a couple years straight, but that hasn’t stopped him from already talking new album. In a recent interview with GQ, Sturgill revealed “what’s next is already finished,” noting he will need “about six months at home with [his] family” before thinking about a release, since it’ll inevitably lead to another crazy tour cycle. By our calculations, that puts a new record out around summertime, so we should expect a single or two to arrive in late spring. For the time being, revisit an old favorite, and keep an eye on the site for album updates later in the year.
