In recent years, Baltimore experimental popsters Animal Collective‘s existence has seemed to ebb and flow based on each member’s busy solo career commitments, but, as proven time and time again, they always still manage to align every few years to deliver another remarkable release. Feb. 19, the band will return with their tenth full-length, Painting With, a followup to 2012’s magnificent Centipede Hz. The first single, “FloriDada,” is a fast-paced, fun, and energetic tune that has us already saving a spot on our Best of 2016 lists (listen below). Unsurprisingly, the group will hit the road in support of their new effort, and will return to Marathon Music Works on May 6 with Kaitlyn Smith, for their first Music City outing in two and a half years (as you may recall, a series of postponements finally gave way to a performance at the end of 2013). One of the best live bands making music today, the buzz for Animal Collective is always high; you’d better be safe and grab your tickets here as soon as they go on sale Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. CST.
