Basecamp-620

Top-tier Nashville pop seems to sneak out of our city to find listeners and fanbases in pop strongholds Los Angeles, D.C., New York, and beyond. A combination of media praise, Spotify playlist inclusions, and ultra-trendy live shows keep propelling these artists forward. A shining example, and perhaps the standard of this: BASECAMP.

Read more about BASECAMP’s stellar 2015, along with a preview of their show with Daniella Mason and Villz tonight at Exit/In.  The music gets started right at 9pm, and tickets are still available here for $10-$13.

BASECAMP

Producer trio Aaron Miller, Aaron C. Harmon, and Jordan Reyes make for a deadly combination as BASECAMP.  Skrillex’s label, OWSLA, signed the band this year to release the Greater Than EP, which is a crown jewel in a treasure chest of James Blake and The Weeknd inspired tracks that came out in 2015. The Fader, Complex Magazine, and naturally, NCFNN, all created a chorus of praise for their alt-pop / electronic R&B sounds.  Couple the media attention with Red Bull Sound Select shows, Bonnaroo, and even a TPAC production, and you have artists who are making purposeful, meaningful moves in their careers. Take a look at the video for “Watch My Back” to get in the mood for tonight’s performance.

DANIELLA MASON

It’s been a bit since we’ve caught up with Daniella Mason. Mason’s 2014 track “Shade of You” caught our attention in a big way, along with mentions from The Guardian and Billboard. She opened up Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights tour and co-wrote Nick Jonas’ heartfelt track “Push.” Since signing to Warner Music, we hear Mason has plenty of expressive pop tunes on the way, and we will be announcing another fun night with her very shortly.

VILLZ

Miami to Nashville songwriter Villz hits us as a little Take Care-era Drake, a little Trey Songz, and a little Miguel. Villz serves up atmospheric R&B that is both comfortable in a low-key haze and unafraid to break through it with occasional big hooks. A sampler of his upcoming album EGO is out now, so get a taste below before the full release.

BASECAMP, Daniella Mason, Villz will perform tonight at Exit/In. The show is 18+, begins at 9pm (doors at 8pm), and tickets are available for $10-$13.
