Here in Nashville, we have finally hit the cold weather, but that should never be an excuse to stay in and miss exciting shows, especially on the weekends. Tonight, Nov. 14 fooBAR is putting on a show that is sure to be groovy, rowdy, and everything in between. Infinity Cat punks Faux Ferocious are making a stop in their hometown to put on what is sure to be one of the better shows going on this weekend. They will be joined by Modern Convenience from both Memphis and Nashville, and opening the night will be fello Nashville psych-punk rockers Step Sisters. The show starts at 9 p.m. and will cost you $5 at the door.
Keep reading for our show preview. Be sure to listen to the links from each of the bands, and brave the cold for three rowdy and energetic bands.
FAUX FEROCIOUS
Faux Ferocious are one of our favorite bands that this town has offered up in the past few years. They are another one of the thriving faces of the Infinity Cat family. The band just released a new self-titled record in September of this year, and their satisfying continuation of the psychedelic blues-punk style they have developed reminds us of a combination between Natural Child and Parquet Courts. The band have played many memorable Nashville shows this year such as their ripping set at Club Soda with Music Band back in July. We are definitely looking forward to seeing what months on the road has done to them. Their set will be a blast of effect-driven guitars supported by a thunderous and pulsating rhythmic base to make for a great display of Nashville’s finest.
MODERN CONVENIENCE
Modern Convenience are stepping in last minute to fill in for Chives. The project comes from Memphis transplant Mikey B and describes itself as “sci-fi punk.” Such a description definitely does them justice, and their latest record Fuck With Fire is an intense combination of underground punk from the late 70’s with the classic elements of 50’s and 60’s rock and roll. Be sure to check them out for yourself!
STEP SISTERS
On their website, Nashville based quartet Step Sisters claim to “fashion their own version of raw and heavy,” and we think that they do a damn good job at it. Their ferocious guitar licks and their fuzz driven bass combined with fierce vocals and strong rhythms make Ty Segall and Led Zeppelin fans everywhere happy. Make sure you get to fooBAR early to check their set out.
Faux Ferocious, Modern Convenience, and Step Sisters will perform Saturday, Nov. 14 at fooBAR. The show is 21+, begins at 8 p.m., and tickets are available for $5 at the door.
