As we previously announced, local (via Bowling Green) alt rockers (and one of our favorite live bands in the world, bar none) Cage the Elephant are gearing up to release their highly-anticipated fourth full-length and followup to 2013’s Grammy nominated Melophobia, called Tell Me I’m Pretty, on Dec. 18 via RCA. Their first LP not to be helmed by longtime producer Jay Joyce, Pretty pairs the band with local Black Keys frontman and acclaimed producer Dan Auerbach; an odd pairing on paper, but one we’ve been eagerly awaiting the chance to hear in action. Cage have finally given us a taste in the form of new single “Mess Around,” a driving, retro, and raw sounding tune that does a great job of capturing the band’s maturing live sensibilities, pays homage to their broad base of influences, and showcases their unwavering energy. Along with “Mess Around,” Cage have also unveiled artwork and the tracklisting for the new LP, in addition to launching pre-orders. You can reserve your copy here, check out the art and trackisting below, and listen to the new single and watch an extended trailer for Tell Me I’m Pretty after the jump!
