Since the release of their third studio album Monterey, acclaimed indie-folk duo the Milk Carton Kids have been touring relentlessly. On Nov. 5, they’ll stop at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s James K. Polk Theater for a night of sweeping acoustic ballads that are sure to tug at your heartstrings.

Don’t assume this show will be just another acoustic singer-songwriter gig in the Music City. These two talented musicians have been nominated for many impressive awards, including a Grammy for Best Folk Album of 2013. Although their recorded musical work is impressive on its own, their live performance is where their talents are truly showcased. If you’re a fan of amazingly crafted ballads and enchanting acoustic sing-alongs, this concert is a can’t-miss. Tickets are are still available for $30-40, but we have you covered if you are a little short on cash. Click below and enter for your chance to win two passes to the show.

THE MILK CARTON KIDS

LA’s folk duo the Milk Carton Kids formed back in 2011, and have been earning praise for their modern indie take on traditional folk music. Members Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan’s flawless harmonies are easily comparable to 1970s era Simon & Garfunkel. Their retro vibe still feels connected to present-day thanks to their fearless songwriting, which appeals to fans from many genres, from Americana to pop.

Their latest album, Monterey, has been celebrated as the best release of their career, which has been full of solid and inspiring work. Monterey itself feels like a collection of poems that hit every possible emotion, from sheer joy to utter remorse. Although strong on its own, the Milk Carton Kids’ music shines it’s brightest when performed live on-stage.
