If you don’t have any plans for tonight, No Country has the perfect solution for you. Two of our favorite Nashville Bands, Idle Bloom and Watcher, will join forces with New Orleans punks Woozy at The Stone Fox. This show will be high energy and thunderous the entire time, so it most certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. Tickets are $7 and the show is 18+.
Woozy’s Nashville stop finds them amidst an extensive U.S. tour. Frankly, there couldn’t be a better bill for them to share Music City with. Watcher just opened for Death From Above 1979 at Third Man Records and Idle Bloom just announced a tour with rising Nashville legend Stone Jack Jones.
WOOZY
Woozy consits of Kara Stafford, John St. Cyr and Ian Paine-Jesam. They are gearing up to release their full-length debut Blistered. But in the meantime they have two tracks from it up on their website. These two songs give a great idea to what their unique sound is; a handful of catchy pop-melodies interspersed amongst rapid time-signature changes and blasts of fuzz and feedback. They keep you on your toes and antsy as a listener. It is a roller-coaster of sound and emotion that sometimes resembles a mix of the textures of Lonesome Crowded West-era Modest Mouse and the rhythms of any project Zach Hill has put his name on.
IDLE BLOOM
Idle Bloom is one of our favorite bands in town. They have been making a name for themselves with their edgy, riff-heavy sound. The combination of Olivia Scibelli‘s vocals and a big presence of distorted guitars evokes the vibe of familiar artists from the 90’s such as Veruca Salt and Dinosaur Jr. Every time they play a show in town they pack venues and grab the focus of every audience member with their poppy, yet rocking song selection. The band is about to tour the south/midwest taking them to such cities as Charlotesville, VA and Pittsburgh, PA. They will then return to Nashville on Nov. 2 for a show at the Exit/In with Babes in Toyland. But you don’t have to wait that long to see them. Don’t miss this chance to see some serious shredding and do some serious head-banging.
WATCHER
Watcher is an all star cast of Nashville punks featuring members of Western Medication, The Christ 4, Forwards Edwards and Good Sex. They sound like a melting pot of the power of Ex-Cult, the anger of Pissed Jeans, and the rhythmic force of Steve Albini’s Rapeman. The band has been all over town lately, and is getting ready to release a full-length. If you are like us and are very anxious to hear it, you can temporarily satisfy that urge by showing up early and being ready to get rowdy.
Woozy, Idle Bloom, and Watcher will perform tonight at The Stone Fox. The show is 18+, begins at 9pm, and tickets are available at the door for $7.
