If you’ve been following the site, then you surely know by now that Swedish indie folk singer Kristian Matsson, better known by his stage name The Tallest Man on Earth, is set to make his headlining, full band debut at The Ryman Auditorium on May 27, with folky, soulful mother/son duo Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear tapped to open, and we couldn’t be more excited!
For months, we’ve been hotly anticipating The Tallest Man’s new album, Dark Bird Is Home, and, finally, it debuted earlier this week through Dead Oceans. Matsson’s fourth full-length, Dark Bird doesn’t break the traditionalist, stripped down, personal flavor of folk he’s come to perfect, but definitely showcases some of the strongest songwriting of his career, and, upon first listen, might be our favorite release yet! Stream the whole thing below, and be sure to pick up a copy if you like what you hear!
While not officially slated to drop until this Tuesday, May 18, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear’s buzzworthy debut, Skeleton Crew, is also available to stream a little early, thanks to the good folks at Rolling Stone Country. Produced by Jimmy Abbiss, the LP has us extra excited about catching this promising new act (who will also appear this year at Bonnaroo), and you can listen to it in full below!
Finally, there are a few days left to enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Ryman show, so head here for details a more information, or purchase tickets here!
