We’ve been telling you about the upcoming show of North Carolina based electronic duo, Sylvan Esso for some time now.  We also brought you news that Wye Oak side project, Flock Of Dimes is set to open the Cannery Ballroom show on April 1st.  Tickets are flying off the shelf for this one, so we thought it was time to go ahead give you guys a chance to win a pair of tickets to the show.  There’s no telling how long tickets will last.  So, you can either go ahead and grab one of the few remaining tickets right here for $15, and/or you can enter for the chance to win a pair of tickets in our giveaway below.  No foolin!

SYLVAN ESSO

Sheer happenstance brought Sylvan Esso to life.  Front woman, Amelia Meath, had written “Play It Right” for her previous band, Mountain Man, but the single didn’t breath life at that point.  It was when Amelia shared it with an electronic producer, Nick Sanborn, whom she’d had a chance encounter on a shared bill together.  The track led the two to Durham, North Carolina to bring the song, and subsequently, the band and self-titled debut album to life.  The rise of the popularity of Sylvan Esso has been astronomical in the past two years, and it is no wonder that they are slated on festival lineups for this summer and have almost already sold out Cannery Ballroom.

FLOCK OF DIMES

Flock Of Dimes is the side project of Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner, that has been laying out experimental synth jams since it’s inception in 2012.  The Flock of Dimes project even played Mercy Lounge a few years ago in a support role for Sharon Van Etten, which was a top 10 show for us that year.  Things have been relatively quiet on the Flock Of Dimes front for the past few years, but rumor around Wasner’s camp is that a new record is in the works.
