It’s been three years since Alabama Shakes exploded onto the scene with their critically acclaimed, Gold-cerfitied and Grammy nominated debut album, Boys & Girls, propelled, in no small part, by smash single “Hold On.” And, while they technically hail from just down the road, in Huntsville-adject Athens, Alabama, the group’s integration and influence in the Nashville scene over the past several years has been immeasurable. The eclectic bluesy/psychedelic/r&b/garage rock band have taken their time crafting a followup, but, finally, details for their sophomore album have been announced! Dubbed Sound & Color, the LP will drop April 21 via ATO Records, and was recorded right here in Nashville (like their debut) at the Sound Emporium. You can listen to explosive first single “Don’t Wanna Fight” below, and pre-order Sound & Color right here. Currently, your best chance to catch the Shakes live in the coming months is at Bonnaroo, but we suspect a Nashville date will pop up before the year’s end.
