UmphreysMcGee-620

Attention all jam band fans and progressive rock aficionados: the legendary, one of kind and fucking epicly awesome Umphrey’s McGee are coming to melt skulls during two sets (all Umphrey’s all night without openers) at the The Ryman on Feb. 6! What’s that you say? You already knew this? Well, did you know we have an extra set of tickets for the sure-to-sell-out light show and rock ’n’ roll extravaganza, and we are giving them away. If you’d rather be safe than sorry, purchase your tickets now for just $39.07, but seats are filling up, so act fast. Read more about the legends after the jump and don’t forget to enter for your chance to win!

UMPHREY’S McGEE

It’s hard to believe that the improg rock (improvised progressive) pioneers have been on the grind for 16 years now, usually playing 100+ shows a year, but it doesn’t appear that Umphrey’s McGee plan on slowing down anytime soon. Last year, they released their eighth studio album, Similar Skin, adding to a massive catalog that includes eight live albums, ten music DVDs and too many bootlegs to mention (thanks to their ultra liberal open taping policies). The latest LP is also their first under their own label, Nothing Too Fancy Music (N2F), and is more of the same math rock, jazz fusion, jam-tastic tunes their legion of diehard fans know and love. They’ve come a long way from their humble beginnings around South Bend, IN, playing college parties at Notre Dame, but, lucky for us all, they’ve only gotten better with age. Be sure to strap in for one of the best light shows you will EVER see, and prepare for an unforgettable experience at the historic Ryman Auditorium.
