When last we checked in on singer-songwriter and native Nashvillian Heidi Feek, she was performing as part of our annual Christmas Carol show with Austin Manuel. In the year since, and building on the attention brought forth by her 2013 full-length The Only, Feek has been prepping a new release, Trail Pop, which is set to take a sonic leap forward in embracing the gifted songstress’ love for real deal country and western music. The title track from that forthcoming album arrived earlier this month, and, this week via Rolling Stone Country, Heidi debuted an accompanying music video. Directed by her husband Casey Pierce, the video unabashedly draws influence from Feek’s love of James Bond films and classic westerns; a perfect aesthetic to accompany her “trail song” inspired lyrics and musical landscape. Heidi Feek is among Nashville’s best emerging artists and she, along with a short list of peers, is a shining beacon of hope for the future of real, nostalgic, and timeless, yet wholly contemporary, country music. Watch “Trail Pop” below!
