Halfnoise-620

One of Nashville’s best-kept secrets, indie pop artist HalfNoise, recently dropped his debut full-length, Volcano Crowe, and, TONIGHT, he’s celebrating with a release show at The High Watt. With support from Boys and the Radio and Kid Runner, this is surely going to be one of the weekend’s best happenings, and, we’re told, it’s on track to sell out. Grab your tickets here to reserve a spot (looks like you’ll get a free CD as well), and keep reading for a full rundown on the lineup!

HALFNOISE

HalfNoise is the solo vehicle of ex-Paramore drummer Zac Farro, and, while he is likely best known for his former project, from which he departed several years ago now, his current musical endeavors deserve to be judged with a fresh slate. At 24, Zac has spent the last few years stepping out from the behind the drum kit and developing his own musical identity, channeling sweeping, dreamy, texture-based indie pop in the vein of Sigur Ros, while also maintaining the refreshing rock sensibilities of fellow local acts and sometimes collaborators Paper Route and Canon Blue. A compelling and diverse performer, HalfNoise wowed us when he sprung out of nowhere with his nuanced and dense eponymous debut EP in 2012, and, with Volcano Crowe, which he recorded in New Zealand, Farro has achieved an even more refined, ambitious, and unhinged while still accessible piece of high-art. HalfNoise is the best band in Nashville that you’re probably not listening to, and, with his new full-length, Farro is doing his damnedest to change that. His local appearances have been few and far between, and tonight is a sure sell-out. Don’t miss your moment to catch something incredibly special.

BOYS ON THE RADIO

Also hailing from Nashville and relatively new to the scene, alt-rockers Boys on the Radio caught our attention with a string of pleasantly poppy singles, and seem to be gearing up for a full length release in the near future. While not as understated and atmospheric as HalfNoise, the group should sufficiently satiate your appetite for straightforward rock tunes and singalongs.

KID RUNNER

Sharing some of HalfNoise’s electronic and rhythmic tendencies, Columbus, OH outfit Kid Runner are, like Boys on the Radio, a bit more conventionally poppy and straightforward. Their songs are infectiously catchy, however, and deceptively layered, making them the perfect choice to kick off a stacked lineup.

HalfNoise, Boys on the Radio, and Kid Runner will perform tonight, Nov. 15 at The High Watt. The show is 18+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available for $10.
