If guitar gurus are your thing, then we have the perfect show for you! Enter Steve Gunn, a New York based (via Landsdowne, PA) virtuoso guitar player, and a pretty damn good songwriter, who is stopping in on Music City tonight, Oct. 9, to play an intimate performance at The Stone Fox. Philadelphia experimental harpist Mary Lattimore and her bandmate Jeff Ziegler add a uniqueness to the bill you won’t find often, and local country rock ’n’ blues band Promised Land Sound will round out things.
If you’re already reaching superfan status, be sure to head over to Grimey’s around 6 p.m. for a speacil in-store performance. You can get tickets to the main event in advance as well, for just $10, or for the same price at the door. The music should start a little after 9 pm, but The Fox will be serving up awesome food and cold beer for hours before, so don’t be afraid to get there early. Read on after the jump for more info on the lineup, and be sure to be there tonight!
STEVE GUNN
A masterfully gifted guitar player, Steve Gunn has been honing his playing and his songwriting for fifteen years now, building a large, diverse, and ravenous fanbase along the way. He’s released volumes of recorded work as a duo, with various outfits, and as a solo artist. His most recent band is a five-piece, including one his long-time collaborators John Truscinski on drums. Their latest album, an Americana rock influenced romp entitled Way Out Weather, dropped this past Tuesday and may feature some of his best work to date. Have a listen below and go see him for yourself tonight.
MARY LATTIMORE & JEFF ZIEGLER
Truly one-of-a-kind, harpist Mary Lattimore & multi-instrumentalist Jeff Ziegler, combine the former’s amazing harp playing, with the latter’s heavy synth and effects loops, to a mesmerizing result. Through in the occasional guitar clatter, and you have one of the most out of this world shows you’ll every see live! Pretty plucking, on a classical instrument, and the height of modern, synthesized sounds. You just have to witness it to truly understand.
PROMISED LAND SOUND
Think honky-tonk phase Rolling Stones, but younger, with less polish, and you’re starting to get a feel for Promised Land Sound, a local act we like more every time we hear them do their thing. Check out some of their latest work below and get on board the bandwagon TONIGHT!
Steve Gunn, Mary Lattimore & Jeff Ziegler, and Promised Land Sound will perform TONIGHT, Oct. 9, at The Stone Fox. The show is 18+, begins at 9 pm, and tickets are available for $10.
