We’ve been harping about the Bahamas show for awhile now, but the time has finally come! Tonight, starting at 8 pm, the chilled out songwriter will be playing tunes from his new album at the one and only High Watt in the Cannery Complex. If you’re familiar with Bahamas’ low-key, intimate style of writing, you know it’s going to be a heck of a show. Tickets are still available for $12, so if you haven’t got one yet, get on it! Doors open at 7 pm and music starts an hour later, and we fully expect to see each and every one of you readers out there, so don’t disappoint us. After the jump, we’ve got a few more words on the band and a rather interesting video about the man behind Bahamas, all for your educational pleasure. See you tonight!
BAHAMAS
Though he’s well known under the moniker Bahamas, Afie Jurvanen has had numerous successful projects during his career, including a stint as the guitarist of Feist. His work with Bahamas, however, seems to be “a more fully realized expression of [himself]”, and indeed the intimacy and personal nature of Bahamas’ is rather hard to ignore. This trait has never been more evident than in Bahamas’ third album, Bahamas is Afie…, which Jurvanen himself admitted is quite introspective and a truthful representation of his current state in life. Truthfully, we can’t express how personal this album is better than Jurvanen himself, which is why we’ve included the following video in which Afie plays the album for his best friend, Russ. It’s a touching video that goes along quite well with the themes of his music, and tonight you can witness this intimacy for yourself at the High Watt.
Bahamas will perform 9/22 at The High Watt. The show is 18+, begins at 8pm (doors at 7 pm), and tickets are available for $12.
