Local indie soft rockers Whoa Dakota released their first, self-titled EP this spring, and have been drumming up support for it playing shows outside of town. But, your chance to catch their melodic, retro pop is coming up, with a free acoustic show on Thursday, Oct. 9 at Park Cafe. Frontwoman Jessica Ott has a sweet throwback pop voice, and shows off her tattoos in the video for “So Much Trouble,” which you can watch below. That song was featured on Lightning 100 earlier this summer, and the group’s sensitive-hipster aesthetic will only help them gain an audience of East Nashville’s fellow glasses-wearing PBR-drinkers — an audience that the group and particularly the charismatic Ott deserve.
