Tomato Art Festival dominates the weekend itinerary, but there are plenty of other amazing shows happening around town for those of you that either don’t like tomatoes or don’t like crowds. Whatever your fancy, let us help you out with another round of staff picks for the weekend in this edition of TWiN!

We’ve been hyping this not-to-miss show for weeks now, and tonight is the night. Congrats those who won tickets through us, and, for those who didn’t, there’s still time to grab one of the few remaining tickets for this almost sold out Rodrigo y Gabriela show. How can you pass up two guitar virtuosos spinning metal through flamenco tradition? That’s right, you can’t. See you there. [MH]

Following a sold out Kyle Kinane comedy set, our favorite local indie surf rock trio, *repeat repeat, will be headlining the free after party. Considering the proceeding event will be packed, be sure to show up early (doors are at 10:30), but this might just be the Friday night night cap you’re looking for! ROOTS OF A REBELLION (Record Release) W/ CHARLIE WHITTEN, OMEGA SWAN

Dhey be Roots of a Rebellion mahn and the local reggae/rock jamsters are celebrating the release of their new record Heartifact at The Basement with fellow Music City residents, folk-rock singer song-writer Charlie Whitten, and raw rock ’n’ rollers Omega Swan (who we’ve covered before). Another weekend, another great local rock show. This week, Baseball Bat, Twin Beds, and The By Gods will be the ones doing the melting at The 5 Spot. This is the last of Baseball Bat’s series of Nashville shows for the summer while The By Gods will be warming up for their West coast tour in just a few days. It’s sure to be a fun, loud and energetic show that shouldn’t be missed! [JMA]
FLOATING ACTION, COTTON JONES, JAMES WALLACE & THE NAKED LIGHT

The Stone Fox is a fantastic venue for intimate shows, and this show doesn’t seem to be much of an exception. The headliner for the evening is the funky Floating Action, whose vibey rock sounds are sure to fill the hall. We’ve also got Cotton Jones and locals James Wallace and the Naked Light opening, so be sure to get to the show early enough to get the full experience. [JS]
SHY GUY, JOSEPHINE & THE WILD FRONT, T. RUST, RALES

Local favorites Shy Guy have been absolutely rocking the local scene here, and once again you have a chance to see this musical juggernaut in action. Joined by Josephine and the Wild Front, T. Rust and Rales at the infamous East Room, this show is sure to be a bumping tonight with that rare kind of upbeat energy only a Nashvillian garage rock band can bring. [JS]

Tomato Art Festival is the absolute not-to-miss event of the weekend, but music fans will rejoice in the eclectic lineup, including blog faves like ELEL, The Cunning, Kink Ador, and tons more. Not into all things tomato? If crowds aren’t your thing, then you should hang around Riverside Village to check out some sweet solo sets in the Fond Object performance space. Highlighting this one will be the front woman, Beth Cameron, from long time local rockers Forget Cassettes. These shows are a BYOB blast, so swing by to support, and head over to The Village Pub for a cold refreshment on the porch afterwards. [MH]

TOMATO ART FEST AFTERPARTY FT. DEROBERT & THE HALF TRUTHS W/ AJ AND THE JIGGAWATTS

Funky, soul R&B party band DeRobert & The Half-Truths will have the afterparty rocking into the wee hours of the morning at The 5 Spot, just around the corner from all the Tomato Fest action. We hope you got your day off on the good foot, because they’re not the only soul game in town jack. AJ and The Jiggawatts kick the part off around 9 pm and they are just as funky. For just $5 you’d be crazy NOT to check it out. [JR]
DESLONDES W/ KELSEY WALDON, LUKE BELL

Hailing from the Big Easy, The Deslondes are a gospel/country/folk ensemble that can really get it cookin’ but you don’t have to take our word for it, check out a video for their “Live in the Van” performance below. Get to The Basement early so you can see the full lineup, featuring country folkstress Kelsey Waldon, whose voice harkens back to a by-gone area in country music, and one man old time wrecking crew Luke Bell. Together, they will all make for a wonderfully chill night of tunes if all day at Tomato Fest has you running on E. [JR]

HONEYHONEY W/ KRISTINA TRAIN

Alternative folk duo honeyhoney have relocated a number of times, listing their current location as LA, NYC and Nashville. On Sunday night, they’ll be playing in one of their three new hometowns at 3rd and Lindsley in an effort to continue on their whirlwind tour of the southeastern United States. Though their last album was released in 2011, honeyhoney are not lacking in fans, and you can bet that their show is going to be impressive. [BM]
BLUE MOON SUPER MOON PARTY

Super moons are awesome, beer is awesome, vinyl DJing (provided by Lightning 100’s own Wells Adams) is awesome, but, most awesome of all is, perhaps Acme Feed & Seed’s new fourth floor bar, and the incredible view of Nashville it provides. This isn’t a concert, but, provided you’re of drinking age, it might just be the most fun way to finish out your weekend. [PO]
