Mateja (640x365)

What the hell is there to do on a Thursday night? Live On The Green is still a few weeks away and if you aren’t interested in this week’s Nashville Dancin’ lineup, you should head down to The End and support a laid back night of all local bands. Mateja, Good Buddy, Andrew Lowry and Wabash have all had recent releases and are working hard at making a name for themselves here in Music City where they call home. For some great music at a great price, grab $5 and check out these local acts after the jump.

Mateja

Micah Kolk is a Nashville transplant, but a local all the same.  He recorded his debut EP after moving here under the moniker Majeta, and his long, drawn out vocal melodies and sobering guitar riffs captivate you and fill you with emotion from each song’s start to finish. His performance tonight will surely be astounding and darkly mesmerizing.

Good Buddy

The first time I came across Good Buddy (aka Jason Staebler) was at Mercy Lounge when he was in support of Night Beds. He sat on stage, just him and his guitar and performed a few songs before joining the rest of us in the crowd. He has recently released a new song, “So Tenderly”. The ambient vocals and down tempo drum beat takes his music to a new – spacey – level.

Andrew Lowry

Wabash

Drawing from the familiar sounds of bands like the Beatles and Wilco, Wabash takes the indie rock genre to a whole new level. This up and coming five piece will blow you away from the lead singer’s spot on vocals to the perfected drum rolls, groovy bass lines and unique guitar riffs; and they will leave you with a refreshing new sound.  Make sure you get there early to catch this band that’s been on our radar for a while.
