MAN OR ASTRO-MAN?
Hailing from The Grid Sector of deep space (officially Auburn, Alabama) MAN OR ASTRO-MAN? are pretty far out there, man. They got their start in the early 90s, piecing together their mostly instrumental, outer space/surf/new wave punk rock sounds. Multiple musicians have been in and out of the collective, and everyone gets cool stage name like Star Crunch, Victor Vector, Blazar the Probe Handler and Coco the Electronic Monkey Wizard. Their high energy live performances feature bizarre electronic machines, crazy outfits and sci fi themed arrangements straight out of cult classic 1950’s movies like “The Day The Earth Stood Still” and such. Have a taste below and go have the experience live and in person for yourself.
SALLIE FORD
Portland based Sallie Ford and her badass all-female band (The Sound Outside) are touring in support of their latest LP Untamed Beast, and have been gaining a lot of support from big names like Jack White and The Avett Brothers after a killer set at Bonnaroo. Rock the fuck out with them for yourself before your paying twice as much to see them headlining.
WRAY
Also hailing from Alabama (Birmingham), Wray play a new brand of shoegaze that they have dubbed power gaze, and it’s definitely a few steps faster than it’s predecessor. Their self-titled debut is worth more than just a listen, and you can check out the video for the first single “Apacheria” below.
MAN OR ASTRO-MAN, Sallie Ford, and Wray will perform TONIGHT at Exit/In. The show is 18 +, begins at 8 PM (doors at 7), and tickets are available for $15.
