Canadian dance punk duo Death from Above 1979 exploded onto the scene with their incredible 2004 debut, You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine, only to break up soon after. The single Nashville stop they managed to make in their short-lived existence was an opening spot for Nine Inch Nails at Bridgestone Arena (at the time called the Sommet Center) back in ’05. However, since 2011, the group have been slowly falling back into action, first with a string of reunion dates, and, now, with the announcement of their long-awaited and hugely anticipated sophomore release, The Physical World (due out Sept. 9). Not only are we getting new tunes (listen to first single “Trainwreck 1979” below), but Death From Above have also announced their first proper Nashville headliner, Nov. 4 at Marathon Music Works. Tickets appear to be on sale now (although that may be in error, since they’re not officially slated to be on sale until Friday), and support has yet to be announced. Who knows know long they’ll stick around for their second go; you’d be crazy to miss ’em.
