We Dancin'

What could be better than a free concert that not only has a great lineup, but also showcases some of the best food trucks in Nashville? How about one that also gives back to the community? These are all aspects that this year’s Nashville Dancin’ is offering each week starting tonight and running all the way through July 31st. Tonight’s lineup includes Houndmouth, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Los Colognes, and The Kernal & His New Strangers. Keep reading to learn a bit about each artist and to hear some of the music that’s going to be played tonight.

The gates at Riverfront Park open for Nashville Dancin’ at 5pm with the performances starting at 6pm, and, as always, it is free, all ages, family fun.

HOUNDMOUTH

Since the release of their debut album From The Hills Below the City in 2013, Houndmouth has done nothing but gain traction, and our attention from their last show at Mercy Lounge. Tonight, they return to Nashville to headline the first date for this year’s Nashville Dancin’ concert series. This indie band from Indiana has been all around the country so far, as they are already in the middle of their second tour this year. Not only have they been touring, but they have also hit a few festivals so far along the way, gaining more and more fans at each one. Hopefully we will see a packed house for this rising indie band on Thursday night. Check out their video for “Casino (Bad Things)” off of From The Hills Below the City.

NICKI BLUHM & THE GRAMBLERS

Another band in the midst of a tour, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers bring their high energy performance to practically co-headline this bill. Nicki Bluhm not only released her debut album in the summer of 2013, but also played last year’s Bonnaroo. She was one of our Bonnaroo Bands of the Day last year and a highlight at the festival.

LOS COLOGNES

Nashville’s own blues rockers Los Colognes are a perfect fit for this Dancin’ bill. It’s apparent that they draw some of their influences from artists like JJ Cale and Dire Straits, when you hear the melodic nature of the songs on their newest effort Working Together. Listen to a track with the same title to hear those influences for yourself, and definitely get out to see the incredible musicianship live.

THE KERNAL & HIS NEW STRANGERS

Tennessee native “The Kernal” (Garner) has assembled some “new strangers” for his latest project, and are certain to be a well rounded opening act with his southern jazz influenced, singer-songwriter style. Make sure to get to the show early to reserve your spot for what looks to be an amazing night to kick off another season of Nashville Dancin’.

Houndmouth, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Los Colognes, and The Kernal & His New Strangers perform tonight June 12th as part of Nashville Dancin’ at Riverfront Park. The show is all ages, begins at 6pm (doors at 5pm), and it is absolutely FREE!
