Jack White and Neil Young have been announced as guests for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Monday, May 12, to promote White’s upcoming Lazaretto and Young’s new cover album, A Letter Home, respectively. Though only Neil has been officially pegged as a musical guest, it’s not unreasonable to assume that Jack might join in on the performance as well. Not only that, but, as announced by Fallon on last night’s show, the pair will bring along the Third Man Recording Booth (or some version of it) to cut a vinyl record on live television for, what they claim, is the first time ever. Louis C.K. is also slated to appear as a guest, and Fallon will air at 10:35 p.m. EST on NBC.
A Letter Home was recorded entirely using Third Man’s refurbished 1947 Voice-O-Graph recording booth, and is available now in a wide variety of formats. You can watch Neil Young perform Bert Jansch’s “Needle of Death” live from inside the booth, after the jump, and read more about his new album here. Jack White’s forthcoming sophomore effort, Lazaretto, is slated for a June 10 release, and the former White Stripe will headline the nearby Bonnaroo and Forecastle festivals this summer.
