Music On TV

New year, old feature. The holidays are over and late night programming is back, so welcome to Music on Television, a roundup of the best live performances each week on TV. Not only are we saving you time by wading through everything for you, but we also hope to help you discover some great up and coming bands, many of which will be passing through Nashville in the near future! We’re catching you a day late, but, don’t worry, we’ve got links to last night’s performance for you!

Don’t forget, we’re also adding tour dates and ticket links for the artists performing in town and in surrounding areas. Get those DVRs set for:

If old school hip hop’s more your bag, we’ve got bonus pick rapper turned TV host MC Serch on Aresnio or, for a dose of psychedelic southern rock, catch White Denim on Last Call with Carson Daly!

New York pop rock trio The Kin will make their Conan debut, which is where we think you should point your eyes and ears on Wednesday night. If you disagree, you might consider LA folky rock act Vanish Valley on Carson Daly or, in a similar vein, singer-songwriter and former Czars frontman John Grant on Letterman.

If the indie punks aren’t enough to hold your attention, you’ve got a couple of other great choices: Lord Huron (whose upcoming Cannery Ballroom show sold out instantly) on Kimmel! or local country artist Paul Franklin on Leno.

With her battle with cancer behind her, a new record right around the corner, and more drive than ever, the incredible Sharon Jones and her wonderful backing band The Dap-Kings are sure to bring this house down to end the week on Fallon. If you’re not ready to get funky, try heavy metal option Red Fang on Letterman or alt-rock act Thirty Seconds to Mars on Ellen. We here they killed it last month at War Memorial Auditorium!
