If you have ever heard Pokey LaFarge, you are not likely to forget him. Since the early 2000’s, Pokey has continued at a steady pace releasing music and traveling the world, working hard to bring American root music back into our homes. Tonight’s show gets started at 9 p.m. with The Tillers and Bradford Lee Folk & the Bluegrass Playboys. Tickets are still available here for only $12, or for $14 at the door. See why you should come out to the Mercy Lounge and catch these bands while they are in town after the jump.
POKEY LaFARGE
Pokey LaFarge is currently touring with a five piece band all around North America and Europe. His latest full-length album was co-produced with Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, and was released as his first album under Third Man Records. Pokey brings back the timeless sound of American root music and ragtime. Describing himself in his own words, Pokey explains “It’s not retro music. It’s American music that never died.” We loved his record release show earlier this year, and can’t wait for another opportunity to catch him tonight.
The Tillers
The Tillers are a trio of guys who began their endeavor in the streets of Clifton, Ohio, playing whereever they could. After they winning over Cincinnati with their traditional folk and bluegrass sound, they continued traveling their way around the country making music, friends, and fans.
Bradford Lee Folk & the Bluegrass Playboys
Bradford Lee Folk & the Bluegrass Playboys is a new effort started by Bradford Lee Folk himself. This group of five guys from all over the country came together to share one thing: good ol’ bluegrass.
Pokey LaFarge, The Tillers, and Bradford Lee Folk & the Bluegrass Playboys will perform TONIGHT at Mercy Lounge. The show is 18+, begins at at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.), and tickets are available for $12.
