It feels like it’s been a little while since we last sent you to an El El show, so we’d be remiss if you didn’t bring you the scoop on Ben Elkins and friends’ latest activity. The poppy, eclectic local rockers, one of our favorite up and coming acts in town, will be performing at The 5 Spot TONIGHT, with two other great bands. Per usual, this one’s 21+ and it’ll cost you just a few bucks at the door. We can’t think of a better cure for your hump day blues, or a more fulfilling way to spend your evening (instead of watching the CMAs). Keep reading for more on the whole lineup.

EL EL

It seems like synth-backed, horn-laden, indie poppers El El just keep getting better and better every time we see them (not as easy task for a band who blew us away at their very first show). We’re excited to hear some new tunes from these guys in the coming months, and, if you haven’t jumped onboard the El El bandwagon yet, you’re missing out on one of the most fun live acts in town.

STEPHEN GORDON

Folky singer-songwriter Stephen Gordon hails from Bowling Green, channeling elements of indie rock, pop, and Americana. He brings a great balance and diverse sensibility to the lineup and is sure to delight. Look out for new music from Gordon in the near future!

THE BEECH BENDERS

Another Bowling Green band (are we sensing a pattern here?) and a throwback to early ’60s surf rock and retro pop, The Beech Benders boast all of the good vibes, layered harmonies, and instrumental-heavy jams you could possibly ask for. We dare you not to have a mellow, mid-week de-stressing sesh while listening to these guys.

El El, Stephen Gordon, and The Beech Benders will perform TONIGHT at The 5 Spot. The show is 21+, begins at at 9 p.m. (doors at 8:30 p.m.), and tickets are available for a few bucks at the door.
