Hometown girl, Caitlin Rose, is somewhat ironically famous locally for being more famous across the pond than in her own neighborhood (The Independent even dropped by her house in Nashville before many Nashvillians had taken note).
Her debut full-length, Own Side Now, wasn’t even available here until it had already broken big in the UK. But with the release of her second effort, The Stand-In, it might be a bit harder for Ms. Rose to remain incognito. A slew of well-deserved national press and effusive accolades for her most recent effort continues with the streaming of her record at Rolling Stone. Get over there fast and give it a listen because it is at once brazenly exuberant and characteristically tender. You can also check out her video for the track “Only A Clown” over at Billboard online.
If you’re playing catch-up on Caitlin’s career thus far, here’s her appearance on NPR’s World Cafe from 2011 and a few of my favorites below…
The official video for “Shanghai Cigarettes” off Own Side Now…
Her cover of Arctic Monkeys’ “Piledriver Waltz” [featuring make-up by her equally talented sister, Hayley Rose Maurer]…
And a little teaser for the new album, The Stand-In…
The Stand-In is slated for release on March 5th.
