With Your Friends Festival is coming to Nashville

Summer is on it’s way out, but there are still plenty of fun festivals that are coming up this fall.  You have the weekly Live On The Green parties starting up a week from Thursday.  Soundland will be here before you know it.  There’s also the Starry Nights Festival going on up in Bowling Green at the end of September.  So, why not throw in the most unlikely festival of them all… With Your Friends Festival is curated by Skrillex and Pretty Lights, and will include heavyweights Nas (with a nine-piece band), Santigold, 12th Planet, Dillon Francis, Michal Minert and TOKiMONSTA.  This sea of humanity will take over Riverfront Park on October 26th & 27th.

Maybe I am missing something here, but I’ve been to DJ sets around town and they aren’t overflowing with fans.  So, why would Skrillex and Pretty Lights choose Nashville to hold something like this.  It seems like it would be a better fit in a city like San Francisco, London, Berlin, or Montreal.  I mean, in this time of political maneuvering, can you imagine all the liberal, scantily clad, glowstick-toting, raver types running through Lower Broadway with all the Hank Williams Jr fan tourists who think Obama is a “Muslim who hates America”.  I’m not the biggest fan of electronic music, but I am a huge fan of people watching.  This thing has the potential to be like a staged WWF fight between liberal and conservative.  That’s reason enough for me to head downtown.

Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, and you can choose between General Admission or VIP.  The pretty cool cartoon-y promo poster is below.
