It’s a long weekend, and you know you deserve it.  Here’s a quick rundown of some shows that are worth your consideration for this weekend.  Get out and see some live music!

Friday

Damien Jurado w/ JBM & Kate Tucker are taking over The Basement.  It’s a long weekend, and those tend to require pacing yourself.  So, I can’t think of a better way to start things off than with some seriously talented singer-songwriters.  You can check out Jurado from a recent WBEZ  Chicago in-studio performance in the video below.  JBM’s most recent album Stray Ashes is included below, and we’ve included the most recent release from Nashville’s Kate Tucker below too.  Things gets started at 9pm for 10 bucks.

How I Became The Bomb w/ Colorfeels & Norm are gonna provide a little pop musical adrenaline over at The High Watt if that is what you are looking for tonight.  You can check out HIBTB’s 2009 release Deadly Art, Colorfeels’ 2012 single “Shapes”, and Norm’s s/t EP below.  Things get started over at The High Watt around 9pm, and tickets are 7 bucks!

Pierced Arrows w/ Don’t, Bad Cop & Ghost Dance are your Friday night Rock n’ Roll fix over at The End.  You can check out Pierced Arrows 7″ split with Black Lips below.  Openers include (impossible to google) Don’t with Bad Cop, and Ghost Dance.

If that still doesn’t do it for ya, you can head over to 12th & Porter for the infinitely talented Butch Walker.

Phew, and that’s just Friday night.

Saturday & Sunday

The Kingston Springs with The Bridges & Sol Cat bring some Nashville indie rock to the table on Saturday night at 12th & Porter.  You can check out The Kingston Springs video playing their song “Lover” live in the Arizona desert from their recent west coast road trip below.  You can check out Nashville transplants, The Bridges, and you can listen to their fresh pop sounds over at their bandcamp page.  Things get started with the soulful grooves of Sol Cat, and you can check out their Jungle Sessions EP at their bandcamp page.  Tickets are $10 bones, and things get started at 9pm.

OBN III’s, Useless Eaters, Cy Barkley & the Way Outsiders are taking over The End on Saturday night if you need to feel like you are drinking in a garage.  OBN IIIs hail from Austin, TX, and you can check out one of their 7″s below.  Most of us around here know about Useless Eaters and Cy Barkley & Co.  If you don’t, you can click on those links to check a bit of their stuff.  Things get started after 9pm, and tickets are the usual $5.

“Nobody’s Vault But Mine” 2012:  Saturday night also kicks off the 3rd annual fan-curated event for fans of Third Man Records and related artists over at The Basement.  The event kicks off on Saturday with Dex Romweber Duo, The Black Belles, Jane Rose and the Deadend Boys, and Jeff Zentner and Elin Palmer.  Things finish up on Sunday with PUJOL, Brian Olive, Boogaloosa Prayer, & The Ultras S/C.  You can read a nice write up over at the Cream, and you can check some vids and players and stuff for those performing both nights after the jump (this page is going to load slow enough as it is).  Whatever you do, get out and support local music this weekend!
