Lollapalooza just announced the launch of a completely revamped “Lolla Remix Throwdown” for 2012. Entrants to this year’s competition will have a chance to win a spot on Perry’s Stage at Lollapalooza, as well as prizes from Red Bull, Ableton, and Dubspot.
So, here’s the deets. Between May 23rd and June 24th, artists can enter the contest by submitting their remix of ‘California’ by Lollapalooza artist Delta Spirit. This year, three finalists will be selected by judge votes, and one ‘fan favorite’ will be selected by popular vote. The voting period is between June 25th-29th, with the winners being announced on July 2nd. The four finalists will then compete live at Evil Olive in Chicago on July 28th for a coveted prize package, which includes a slot at Lollapalooza on Perry’s stage.
The Lolla Remix Throwdown winner will receive a flight stipend of up to $500 plus lodging to spend one 9-hour day with an engineer in the Los Angeles Red Bull Studio, full Ableton Live 8, scholarship to Dubspot for the Mixing and Mastering Certificate program, $1,000 cash, Lollapalooza artist pass with access to catering and artist lounge, artist guest pass, hotel for four nights in Chicago for Lollapalooza weekend and promotion on the festival website. The three remaining finalists will each receive two festival tickets, Ableton Live intro and a $750 prize.
