GIVERS & Lord Huron, Exit/In, Tonight In Nashville

Oh yeah, it’s Friday!  Not that days of the week really matter to a music blogger.  I regularly have to ask people what day of the week it is, and the only reason that I really notice it’s the weekend is that friends are more likely to hang out.  I remember Friday’s though, and I am sure that I will be forced to understand again soon just how awesome they are!  So, let me give you an idea of what to do with your Friday night.

Do you remember me talking like a 15 year old girl about the band GIVERS before Soundland?  They are an awesome little pop band that I told you about before Bonnaroo, and raved about afterwards.  I’ve said that this band has the possibility to become the next Vampire Weekend, and I stick to those words.  I’m not going to copy and paste everything that I have written before, so check the links above to learn more about this Louisiana band.

One of the openers for GIVERS is Lord Huron (aka Ben Schneider), who has been blowing through the independent music world for the past couple of years, and it won’t be long before you will see Schneider headlining his own shows.  He dropped an EP in 2009 (Into The Sun) and 2010 (Mighty), and both have been impressive.  With an ethereal yet sunsplashed sound ala My Morning Jacket meets Fleet Foxes, Schneider does an outstanding do-it-yourself job of layering up instruments into a beautifully painted wall of sound.  He’s played at a number of festivals that I have been at, but I’ve never had the opportunity to check him out.  Lots of other folks have checked out Lord Huron though, including Pitchfork, NPR, LA Weekly, & Paste Magazine, to mention a few.  He’s gonna be worth getting there early for.

I attached a (flash required) player with both Lord Huron (first four tracks) and GIVERS (last three tracks) below so you can have a listen.  Things get started somewhere around 8pm with opener imagineIAM.  Head over to Exit/In’s website to grab your $10 tickets.  It’s Friday… so, get out and see some live music!  …and if you are worried about watching Game 7 of the World Series, Gold Rush is right across the street!  Go Cards!
