It’s a busy night for live music in Nashville.  We’ve already talked about the bleepy-blurpy math rock of Battles at Exit/In tonight, and the awesome 8 off 8th showcase tonight at Mercy Lounge.  Well, you also have the high energy indie-soul pop of Fitz & The Tantrums tonight.  It’s like it is my birthday tonight or something… oh wait, it is my birthday tonight in Nashville!

Fitz and the Tantrums are a Los Angeles based band that are causing a stir on more than just the dance floor.  Their debut record Pickin’ Up The Pieces (released in August 2010 on Dangerbird Records) has received significant acclaim.  We talked about Fitz & The Tantrums before their Mercy Lounge set back in July, and we reported about the Grimey’s instore that they performed before their Mercy Lounge gig.  Well, they have been playing dates and festivals all over the world, and they are obviously blowing up.  Tonight they are back for another Nashville show at The Cannery Ballroom.  The opener is Walk The Moon who we talked about before their set at Bonnaroo.

You can listen to the embedded player (flash required) with a quite a few tracks from Pickin’ Up The Pieces below.  You can also check out (and download) their Daytrotter session, and a session that they performed in the Live From Daryl’s House (yeah, that’s Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates) web session.  I also included a clip of their cover of the Raconteur’s “Steady As She Goes” from the Grimey’s instore performance below.  I’ve seen these guys, and the live show is really where the energy is.  Grab your tickets here, and get out to see some live music!
