I am sure this is big enough news that I don’t really need to tell you about it… My Morning Jacket is playing at Vanderbilt’s Memorial Gymnasium tonight. We have talked about My Morning Jacket in the past with the release of their new record Circuital, and their awesome set at Bonnaroo this summer.
So, why would I be especially excited to see My Morning Jacket again tonight? The venue. No, I don’t think that Memorial Gymnasium is the greatest venue in Nashville. However, Circuital was recorded in an old gym in MMJ’s hometown of Louisville so they could get all those soaring, echo-y sounds that they were looking for. You generally see MMJ in outdoor festival venues and the like these days, so I’m really curious to hear how that sound bounces and pounds around Memorial Gym tonight.
Tickets are still available here. Things get started at 8pm with opener Trey Songz. I’ve attached a player below with the entire Circuital album. If you aren’t familiar, it’s freakin’ awesome and you will definitely see what I mean about the echo-y sounds in Memorial Gym.
Get out and see some live music.
