Here’s the video that got Hank, Jr fired…

I’m not even about to get into politics on this thing, but I was as shocked as everyone when “Are You Ready For Some Football” didn’t come on before ESPN’s Monday Night Football last week.  I read a few articles, watched a little SportsCenter, and found a clip of the incident in question.  See below, and discuss amongst yourselves.  Oh, and check out this humorous list of replacements by Stereogum.

First the PR quote from ESPN:

We have decided to part ways with Hank Williams Jr. We appreciate his contributions over the past years. The success of Monday Night Football has always been about the games and that will continue.

Now, ol’ Bocephus himself:

After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision, by pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You [ESPN] stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run.
