Is San Francisco rocker Hanni El Khatib a one-man Black Keys? Well, wait, he plays live with a drummer…. making him a two-piece… just like the Black Keys. Regardless, he has that hard driving, dive bar, whiskey drinking, shooting pool with your head nodding, kind of sound. I wish I could see this guy performing at Benders in San Francisco…. that’s the sound we’ve got here.
We all know after the success of The Black Keys Brothers from last year, this is a sound that people are digging, and it shows from Hanni El Khatib’s lineup of shows this summer. He is touring with Florence and the Machine and Bass Drum of Death around the country this summer, including two stops here in Nashville…. Hanni El Khatib will be performing at this year’s Bonnaroo festival on Friday June 10th at The On Tap Lounge from 6:40 to 7:30 pm. If you can’t catch them there, he will also be performing at Nashville’s The End on July 2nd (so far, this is only announced on the artist’s website). I’ll keep an eye on it, and post a reminder for this one later on.
In the meantime, check out the links below to get a taste, and Hanni El Khatib’s page on the Bonnaroo site….
