It’s been a decade since English indie rockers alt-J met and formed the group while attending university, and five since they erupted onto the scene with their incredible 2012 debut, An Awesome Wave. We can think of few indie acts who’ve experienced such a swift rise in recent years, as 2012 alone saw them grow from praomising young act to Mercy Prize winners, critical darlings, radio and festival staples, and international touring artists. Since then, they band have released two more fantastic full-lengths, 2014’s This Is All Yours and this year’s Relaxer, continuing to garner praise and grow in stature thanks to their unique, electro-infused, experimental, rhythm heavy, and off-kilter pop accessible sound.
When alt-J first played Nashville, in 2013, they were meant to headline Mercy Lounge, which promptly moved to Cannery and still sold out. Just six months later (and a testament to their rapid buzz), they headlined The Ryman, and a year and a half after, the Grand Ole Opry House. Tonight, Nov. 6, the group return after more than two years for their biggest Music City headliner to date, at Nashville Municipal Aauditorium. Appropriately, breakout synthpop singer Marian Hill, whose own buzz not only mirrors, but surpasses that of alt-J’s in the early days, thanks to massive breakout single “Down,” has been tapped to open, and tickets are still available! We’ve been blown away by alt-J’s thrilling live show time and time again; you don’t want to miss this!
alt-J and Marian Hill will perform tonight, Nov. 6 at Nashville Municipal Auditorium. The show is all ages, begins at 8 p.m., and tickets are available to purchase for $36.50-56.50a
