Japandroids Premiere “North East South West” Video | See Them Nov. 7 at Cannery Ballroom

Five years after the release of their masterpiece sophomore effort Celebration Rock, Canadian indie/garage punk duo Japandroids, now more than a decade into their run, remerged earlier this year with a long-awaited followup: Near to the Wild Heart of Life. Written and recorded over two years in four cities across all of North America, the LP, more polished and honed than anything that’s come before it, follows the band’s established eight-song template, and channels influences of Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, The National, authors Clarice Lispector and James Joyce, and more to inform its punk-spirited, noise poppy, heartland rock-adjacent aesthetic.

As we announced earlier this year, the group are set to finally make their way back to Nashville, following 2010 and 2012 shows at The End and Exit/In, for a Nov. 7 show at Cannery Ballroom with Cloud Nothings. Ahead of that outing, they’ve just released a brand new music video (which is actually quite a rarity for them) for single “North East South West,” capturing their time on the road, and serving as something of a sequel to their one and only other video, 2012’s “The House that Heaven Built.” Watch the spot below to get excited for their Music City return, and grab tickets here if you haven’t yet!
