For the first time this year, Jamestown Revival are bringing their incredible harmonies and wanderlust-induing lyrics back to Nashville tonight, June 7 for a headlining show at Cannery Ballroom in support of their latest album, The Education of a Wandering Man. This time, they’ll bring along Canadian alt-country wonder Colter Wall to kick things off. Tickets are still available here, so grab yours while you still can and read on to learn more about the show.

JAMESTOWN REVIVAL

Childhood friends Zach Chance and Jonathan Clay started performing together as teens back in their hometown of Magnolia, Texas. After pursing their own solo careers, they formed Jamestown Revival in 2011. Instead of trying to create music for the masses, they looked to the art that already influenced and inspired them. Their songs included adventurous narratives and beautiful descriptions of nature that were inspired by the writings of Louis L’Amour, and country cowboys like Willie Nelson and John Prine. The band’s first record, Utah, was recorded while staying in a cabin along the Wasatch mountains. Their lead single “California (Cast Iron Soul)” earned plenty of praise and airplay, and cemented them as a buzz-worthy band to watch.

They followed up their strong debut with 2016’s The Education of a Wandering Man, which also happens to be the title of a popular Louis L’Amour novel. Following the theme of their debut, Jamestown Revival focused on creating a more upbeat and uplifting set of songs that still feels like a ramblin’ man’s soundtrack. There’s also a bit of Southern rock-inspired guitar and gritty, swampy riffs that gives the release just enough spice to feel fresh and surprising. If you missed their slot opening for The Wild Feathers’ stint at The Ryman last year, make sure you see Jamestown Revival when they stop by Cannery Ballroom next month.

COLTER WALL

21-year-old Colter Wall hails from Canada, but his sound is derived from the heart of the South. In 2015, he released his debut EP Imaginary Appalachia, which shows off his uniquely raw and grizzly sound. With lyrics that dive into the joy of pure love and the heartache and pain that can hit you at an instant, Colter transforms everyday human emotions into something truly poetic.

Earlier this month, he released his debut self-titled LP, which features 11 tracks produced by acclaimed producer Dave Cobb. In just a few short years, Colter has earned praise from both Steve Earle and Rick Rubin for his incredible songwriting abilities. With greats like Sturgill Simpson and Chris Stapleton paving the way, Colter Wall has the talents to be the next big alt-country sensation.

Jamestown Revival and Colter Wall will perform tonight, June 7 at Cannery Ballroom. The show is 18+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available to purchase for $20.
